hi rini, what does 'devey lay' mean in engels

I hear it on the dutch racing feeds all the time.
just wondered what it meant in English.

deelnemers, davie lay (de vie lay)???? spelling??

This is not a hard question to answer once you know what the word is.
It is: defilÃ©.
It means: parade.

So they say: Participants, go parade now.
(It is the order to start the pre-race parade)

Eric, thanks. It's been bugging me for a while.

not suprisingly though, it's not in my dutch dictionary.

The first time I heard it I thought she was referring to the commentator 'Davey Lee'!

I like the way she says it though.
